Welcome to Jesus and Me Lessons

The purpose of this blog is to help people enter into a relationship with Jesus. Jesus is the answer for today's problems. Jesus is the answer to failed marriages, addictions to alcohol, drugs, and porn. It is by trusting Him that we can solve our financial difficulties. Jesus said, "I am the way and the truth and the life." John 14:6. The Jesus and Me lessons shows one how to have that relationship with Jesus, how to learn to trust Him, and what His plans are for your life. They also cover the major themes of the Bible along with prophecies relating to the past and future. It is my prayer that you find Jesus and then through these lessons introduce others to Him.

INSTRUCTIONS: Please go to the Jesus and Me list at the right and click on each lesson taking them in order. [If the lesson titles do not show, click on March for the first 17 lessons and on April for lesson 18] I suggest that you print each lesson then fill in the blanks. This will help you to remember what you have learned. There will be questions that you may not know the answers. Pray as you study and try to find the answer. If you cannot find the answer contact the friend that invited you to this group or blog. If you still can't find the answer you can contact me. (see my profile)Study to show thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth. 2 Tim 2:15May God bless you as you study His words and may you become a true friend of Jesus and help Jesus find other friends.

Lesson 18 -- Jesus INVITES Me

We learned in lesson 1 that Jesus loves us. He also longs for us to be with Him. Jesus invites us to be a part of His kingdom now and later, eternal life. As we study the invitations of Jesus we will see also what He requires us to do to be a part of His kingdom.1. By what means are we brought into God’s Kingdom?
1 Corinthians 12:13

2. In order to be saved, what else does Jesus say we must do besides being baptized? Mark 16:16

Believing in Jesus means “trusting” in Jesus. It’s not just believing about Him but putting our trust in Him to save us and to lead us.

3. What is the purpose of baptism and what does it symbolize? Romans 6:3-8

It is the death of “self” that frees us from sin. Baptism is a symbol of the old self dying and being buried.

4. In order to be a fit symbol of being buried, how should baptism be done? Mark 1:9, 10

Notice that Jesus went “into the water” and “came up out of the water”. See also Acts 8:38, 39. Some churches use sprinkling as a way to baptize. Can that be a fitting way to symbolize “death to self”?

5. What else should accompany baptism? Acts 2:38

Repentance involves admitting to sin, our desire to turn from it, and to begin a life of trusting Jesus.
6. What else happens when one is baptized? Acts 19:1-6

The Holy Spirit will come upon us and keep us from sinning and also will give us gifts to be able to tell others of Jesus’ love.

7. To be cleansed from sin is a wonderful thing. What two things does God do for us when be confess our sins? 1 John 1:9

Cleansing us from sin or taking the sin problem out of our lives is the work of the Holy Spirit. It is the work that goes on daily as long as we live. Please read Titus 3:5-7

8. What did John the Baptist promise that Jesus would do?
Mark 1:8

When we accept Jesus into our lives He wants us to let others know so they too can accept Jesus. When we are baptized it is a public witness that we are “putting the old self to death” and “rising up to the newness of life”.
The baptism does not change us; it is the baptism of the Holy Spirit that does the changing. Being baptized publicly also makes us accountable to God and to God’s people.

Jesus and Me Lessons
This is the last of the Jesus and Me lessons. There is much more to learn. As you have studied these lessons the Holy Spirit has been leading you to a better understanding of God’s love and plan for your life. He is now asking you to take the next step and follow Jesus all the way.

The Biblical principles that you have learned in these lessons are taught by the Seventh-day Adventist church. I encourage you to call the pastor of the local Seventh-day Adventist Church and tell him of your interest in following Jesus and to be baptized into the body of Christ. May God be with you as you walk with Jesus.
